Enter the baby containment device

So this thing is great! Althea can hold her head up and is finally ready for some upright playtime - this thing has stuff that bounces, squeaks, plays music, spins, rattles and lights up - she loves it!

Hanging on to her stuffed bunny (thank you Diane) and being entertained by the floating butterfly.

Spin it again! WhooHoo!

All this playing wears her out - time to snuggle with bunny and take a short nap...

A visit from the folks

Chris' parents and nephew came up for a visit on Friday - we had fun hangin' out and spending some time at East End Beach.

Yeah Pop!

Althea poses with Sweet Camilla Kitty at the East End playground - she is lovin' her new stroller and being able to get out and about without a sling or the Baby Bjorn.

Cousin Jakob had a great time playing on the slides at the EE playground. We love that freckle faced toothless grin of his!

Wild man Jakob hits the slides!

Uncle Drew sure is funny! Althea had a great afternoon hangin' out with Uncle Drew - it is so much fun to pull on beards.

Nice tractor Althea!

Althea has quite the grip - she is grabbing at everything, including Momma's big mouth.

Red Sox games

Yes, Althea has been to two more Red Sox games - one make-up afternoon game and one Sunday game, both against the Angels.

Check out the hat! Ann Forest bought her this adorable little pink Sox outfit - complete with her first ball cap - too cute.

Here she is on Sunday afternoon - don't worry she had on sunscreen and was covered most of the game.

Is it any wonder why Okie gave her a ball?

Althea's Modeling Debut

So today we went to Focus Photography to have some pictures taken of the infant phenom. Please check out this link for a sneak peak of the amazing work they did today... http://www.focusphotography.info/blog/index.php

And yes, I think I am becoming a pageant mom - no scary big hair and glossy skin stuff more like Little Miss Sunshine.

Thanks again for the g.c. Nan and Drew - what a thoughtful gift!

Update

It has been awhile since we posted to the blog so I thought I would give a quick update and promise to post photos this week.

'Lil Miss Althea Rose has been attending daycare regularly - getting ready for Chris' return to school in late August. By all accounts they love her at daycare and she loves them. Each day we get the report of what she ate and what she did during the day - things like "Today I enjoyed making silly faces" or "Today I enjoyed playing with Dinah".

Although she hasn't been weighed recently I would be willing to bet (dollars to donuts - as my Dad would say) that she is up around 13lbs. She has begun to outgrow some of her clothing - I know it was a shock to us too. I spent this morning sorting through bins of clothing to find all of her 3-6 month stuff - it took me an hour and a half - she has more clothes than will fit in her dresser. So, expect some sort of fashion show posted on the blog - more for the stuff she is outgrowing than the new stuff.

Other developmental milestones:
She can push herself up when she is on her belly for extended periods of time. It won't be long before she can roll over - she is already scooting/wiggling herself forward while on her belly almost like a little crawling action.
We are convinced that it won't be long before she "clearly" says her first word - she seems to be getting some of the timing down with the babbly gurgly stuff - this morning we were pretty sure she said "Bye" to Matt but you know new parents often hear what they want to hear ; )
She is squealing with joy - it was alarming at first because it is so... loud - but what did we expect? We are loud, our friends are loud, our families are loud (you know you are) of course she was going to be loud. She takes great pleasure in expressing herself with the squeal/scream quickly followed by the all encompassing grin that she mastered recently.
Oh! And she is spitting out and throwing her binky/pacifier - she is preferring to suck on her own hand, not her fingers or thumb but the back of her hands. We will be so... happy if she rejects the pacifier before we need to take it from her - she rarely needs it to be calmed these days - whoohoo!
